Legislation News 

  • Construction Statistics Annual Publication - A public consultation on the future of the publication has been announced.  It is proposed that the annual will cease to exist in its current format. This consultation will seek views from users on proposed improvements.
    Opening date: 21 December 2011

  • Building Regulations for Wales
    From 01 January 2012, any revisions to Building Regulations and related procedures, processes and guidance proposed or issued by DCLG apply to England only. On 31 December 2011 remaining functions under the Building Act 1984 passed from the UK Government to the Welsh Ministers The members of BRACW took up their posts on the 31 December 2011. Welsh ministers aim to reduce carbon emissions by 55% improvement on 2006 requirements for new homes by April 2013. In order to do so, ministers are undertaking a review of Schedule 1 Part L to the Building Regulations 2010 which relates to the conservation of fuel and power and will seek advice from the Committee.
     
  • 2012 consultation on changes to the Building Regulations in England: Section two - Part L (Conservation of fuel and power)

    This consultation paper sets out the detailed proposals on Parts L, and is Section two of four, relating to the 2012 Building Regulations consultation exercise.
     
  • The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) - BRE has, on behalf of the Department of Energy and Climate Change, launched a public consultation on the latest proposed changes to SAP - the Standard Assessment Procedure for the energy rating of dwellings. A principal purpose for the new SAP 2012 will be to underpin the 2013 update of Part L of the Building Regulations and equivalent legislation in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.   
     
    The consultation also proposes amendments to CO2 emission factors to include the global warming impact of CH4 and N2O emissions as well as CO2. To see the proposed changes and have your say on them, go to www.bre.co.uk/sap2012. The consultation is open until 28 March 2012. 
     
  • Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurences Regulation Bill 2010-12 - A Bill to reduce the duties on employers to report matters under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995.
