Floor Void Airtightness - Air leakage specification (BG 12/2010)
It is important that conditioned air in a floor void flows into the occupied zone and does not leak to cavities, risers, stairwells or other adjacent zones. It is also important that the air supplied to the plenum discharges through the floor- mounted diffusers or grilles rather than the joints between tiles, or between tiles and walls. This BSRIA guide addresses these issues, and places upper limits on air leakage of floor voids. Distinctions are made between air leakage to adjacent spaces and uncontrolled air leakage into conditioned zones, with different specifications.
