To understand how future developments within e-knowledge could contribute to improved performance in the building services industry, this scoping study investigated the likely scenarios for industry development over the next seven years and the potential technology scenarios supported by emerging information and communications technologies. These scenarios represented a wide range of alternative visions of the future - not all combinations of industry and technology scenario were complementary, and in most cases the implementation of a desirable e-knowledge technology will require significant barriers to be overcome.
